Charity

At the heart of the Company’s life is an outward-looking involvement with wider society.

In recent years the Company has focused on supporting projects that boost community organizations to help young people become responsible citizens by raising aspirations, attainment, standards and skills. The remainder of the Company’s charitable funds are allocated towards supporting traditional City projects, and helping organizations with which the Company has a relationship by providing advice, links and practical help.

The Company encourages and supports education and best practise in bee-keeping and related skills through prizes, money for lectures, and sponsorship of the National Honey Show.

In common with many Livery Companies, the Wax Chandlers’ Company has formed an affiliation with a unit of HM Armed Forces, the Royal Navy’s HMS Protector, the 5th Battalion of The Rifles and RAF Coningsby.

The Company’s charities are William Kendall’s Charity and the Wax Chandlers’ Charitable Trust. The Company, through the Charity Committee, selects the projects that it wishes to support, in accordance with the Company’s grant making policies.
